Launch of CEBRI Cultural featured in O Globo’s Segundo Caderno

  • 18 october 2026

The launch of CEBRI Cultural was featured in Segundo Caderno, the cultural section of O Globo. In an interview, CEBRI CEO Julia Dias Leite explains that the cultural program offers an opportunity to attract new audiences and introduce them to the institution’s work through lecture series, book launches, and other activities.

“The CEBRI has been active for nearly 30 years, and when we moved to our new headquarters, the idea emerged of opening the space to cultural activities as well, following the example of other think tanks around the world, such as the Council of the Americas (New York, Washington, and Miami) and Chatham House (London), which have projects related to international relations. The new headquarters is a kind of oasis in Rio’s South Zone, with grounds adjacent to the Atlantic Forest and a historic building that has been fully renovated,” Julia noted.

“The aim is to maintain a free cultural program. For next year, we are already planning an exhibition on the history of Brazilian diplomacy, as well as the inauguration of the renovated former chapel, featuring interventions in the stained-glass windows by Vik Muniz,” added the CEO.

Hugo Barreto, CEBRI’s International Advisory Council member for Culture, discussed the possibility of establishing a partnership with the existing ecosystem of culture, thought, and research in the Gávea and Jardim Botânico neighborhoods.

“We have PUC-Rio, IMS (Moreira Salles Institute), the Planetarium, Casa das Garças, the Botanical Garden, and the neighborhood’s art galleries. CEBRI becomes part of this cultural offering and engagement with nature, which is very much present at its new headquarters.”

Starting October 22, the exhibitions As Bárbaras, by Cláudia Jaguaribe, and Reimagining Nature, by Raul Mourão, will be open to the public at CEBRI’s headquarters. With its new cultural hub, CEBRI expands its activities by recognizing culture as a dimension of Brazilian identity and a tool for projecting Brazil internationally.
