On Wednesday, April 17th, CEBRI hosted the International Conference: "50 Years of the Brazil-China Relationship: Cooperation to a Sustainable World," in partnership with the National Top Think Tank and the Institute of Latin American Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), the leading academic organization and research center specializing in philosophy and social sciences in China. The Conference, held at the Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil in Brasília, brought together national leaders, representatives from the private sector, third-sector organizations, and scholars from both countries to discuss the future of Chinese-Brazilian relations.

The event was structured into four thematic panels, emphasizing the significant role that Brazil and China play in addressing inequalities and building a more sustainable world. Current topics were addressed, such as bilateral contributions to sustainable development, cooperation between the two countries in food production, food security, and sustainability, as well as lessons learned and persistent challenges in poverty reduction in both Brazil and China. New approaches to global governance during the transition to a sustainable development model were also discussed.

In the face of global challenges such as food security, energy transition, and climate change, the Conference reflected the priorities of the Brazilian agenda for the presidency of the G20 in 2024 and COP30 in 2025, events in which CEBRI will play a prominent role. This initiative reaffirms CEBRI's commitment to fostering constructive dialogue between civil society and various stakeholders, with the aim of driving the Brazilian agenda and influencing international discussions.

We thank the support of SPIC Brazil, BOCOM BBM Bank, Suzano, the Embassy of China in Brazil, the Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil, ApexBrasil, and the Ministry of Development, Industry and Tradef for the realization of this event.
