The Energy Transition Program aims to accelerate Brazil’s energy transition by developing energy and macroeconomic scenarios, creating sectoral roadmaps, and coordinating various economic sectors. The initiative focuses on building consensus and strengthening data-driven decision-making, directly contributing to the fulfillment of Brazil’s NDC and to positioning the country as a global reference in green solutions by 2050.
The program is structured around strategic sectors, including energy, cities, transport, industry, and land use, while also addressing issues such as infrastructure, innovation, and public policy in an integrated manner. Its results provide technical inputs for governments and companies, with analyses that quantify the impacts of the transition on GDP, job creation, and investments, strengthening Brazil’s competitive integration into global low-carbon value chains. Part of the data generated in the first phase of the project has already been used by institutions such as EPE and the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) in their planning instruments.
The meeting will mark the release of the Executive Report for the second phase of the Energy Transition Program (PTE2), with carbon neutrality scenarios in Brazil developed by Cenergia (UFRJ), MRTS (USP), and FIPE (USP).
Expected outcomes include the engagement of relevant stakeholders from diverse sectors, the broad dissemination and utilization of the project’s outputs, and their impact on public and private, national and international decisions related to the decarbonization of the economy. The expectation is that the data and proposals discussed will serve as a concrete reference for short- and medium-term actions, with a focus on building a new green, competitive, and inclusive economy.
