A Inserção Internacional do Rio de Janeiro

The first article in this issue of CEBRI Articles is entitled "Paradiplomacy and the International Performance of Rio de Janeiro" and was written by Laudemar Aguiar and Anna Carolina Mendes. It provides a brief review of conceptual discussions on paradiplomacy to analyze the international role of local and regional governments, focusing on municipal management, and the case of the city of Rio de Janeiro. The second article, "International Relations of Subnational Units: The Experience of the State of Rio de Janeiro", by Pedro Spadale, in turn, deals with the experience of the state of Rio, possibly the oldest Brazilian state, in inserting itself internationally.
