Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) are at the core of the Paris Agreement and are essential for achieving its long-term goals. They reflect each country's commitments to reduce their emissions and adapt to the challenges of climate change. According to Article 4, paragraph 2 of the Paris Agreement, each Party must prepare, communicate, and maintain updated NDCs that they intend to achieve. Furthermore, the Parties are responsible for implementing mitigation actions at the national level to meet their contribution targets.
The year 2025 marks a decade since the signing of the Paris Agreement, and before the COP 30 summit scheduled for November, countries must submit their revised NDCs with updated emission reduction targets up to 2035. The last NDC submitted was in 2020/2021, with reduction targets established for 2030.
