CEBRI launches policy paper with recommendations for foreign policy on the environment and climate change after COP-27

Today (11/29), the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) held a restricted meeting to launch the Environment and Climate Change Program policy paper. The paper analyzes the challenges and opportunities for Brazil post-COP-27. About 100 people participated in the meeting - among them businessmen, diplomatic community members, and representatives of civil society organizations. Click here to read the full paper.

According to Izabella Teixeira, CEBRI's Trustee Emeritus, former Minister of Environment, and member of the new Federal Government's transition team, the environment is a strategic, essential, and transversal theme that today has repercussions in all areas of foreign policy. "The climate debate is increasingly linked to economic development", she emphasized. According to Teixeira, President Lula's visit to Egypt, where Ambassador Antonio Patriota was also present, was an important indication that the country's environmental policy will change. "Everybody wants to come to Brazil now. The image of Brazil as a pariah will be left behind. President Lula's presence at the COP-27 contributed a lot to this", she assessed.
