How and why did the STF become so prominent?

Major decisions about the future of Brazil pass through the Supreme Court (STF). During the pandemic, it was the Supreme Court who ensured the autonomy of states and municipalities, determined the opening of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI), and opened investigations against crimes ranging from the payment of bribes involving vaccines to the dissemination of fake news. On several occasions, the Supreme Court was called upon to decide on the rules of the electoral process, impeachment, and even define the future of possible candidates for the elections. Its protagonism will not diminish in 2022. The role of the Supreme Court will continue to be important. This event organized by CEBRI's Democracy Program will focus on understanding the Supreme Court’s impact and prominence in the elections and in the future of Brazil.
