CEBRI Breaking News: A nova política comercial de Trump

On February 2, CEBRI Breaking News debated the Trump administration's new commercial policy in the Copacabana auditorium, at Firjan's headquarters. The event is the result of a partnership with Firjan, the Center for Foreign Trade Studies Foundation (FUNCEX) and the ABCI Institute.

Ambassador Roberto Abdenur (CEBRI Advisor) questioned the existence of a US trade policy in the Trump Era and the capacity for protectionism that marks the US government to really bring threats to the world. After Ambassador Abdenur's statements, Aluisio de Lima Campos (President of the ABCI Institute) highlighted excerpts from Trump's speech to elucidate two basic rules of his foreign policy: “buy America” and “hire America”. As part of this commercial philosophy, Trump's office is composed of an “American Troika”, in the words of Aluisio de Lima-Campos, which will bring about a reduction in autonomy by the American Commercial Representation.

Marcos Troyjo (Professor at Columbia University) identified the possibility of the discourse surrounding deglobalization potentially being replaced by the idea of reglobalization, as a result of the concept's redefinition in a new context which characterizes a more active role of governments in encouraging trade policies, in addition to stimulating innovation and technology.
