Brazil's NDC: the Technical and Legal Implications of Updating It

May 19, 2021

Brazil's position regarding the presentation of its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) has caused concern in the international community, specifically about the fulfillment of the climate commitments adopted in the Paris Agreement. For this reason, CEBRI's Environment and Climate Change Program, in partnership with the Institute for Climate and Society (iCS), organized a webinar on May 19th to discuss the technical and legal implications of updating Brazil's NDC.

The discussions were based on the “Scientific and Legal Analysis of the Brazilian NDC” publication by Emilio La Rovere, Caio Borges and Caroline Prolo. The study was published by the iCS in March this year and provides a critical analysis of the scientific and legal aspects of the subject.
