Seminário “Mobility of The Future: climate change and new Technologies”

On February 13th, CEBRI, in partnership with Catavento Consultoria and the Dutch Embassy, held the seminar "Mobility of The Future: Climate Change and New Technologies". The event was attended by think tank representatives, companies and academics. The opening of the seminar was carried out by CEBRI's Vice-President Jorge Camargo.

CEBRI Senior Fellow and Founding Partner of Catavento Consultoria, Clarissa Lins, moderated the first panel of the event, which was attended by the Executive Director of the Institute of Transport and Development Policies (ITDP), Clarisse Linke. She presented the results of a study (available here) on accessibility in Brazil's most populous cities in 2019. The panel was also attended by the Senior Vice-President of Smart Infrastructure at Siemens Brazil, Sergio Jacobsen, who spoke about electromobility. He is the author of the article "Electromobility Will Be Governed by Laws and the Market" which can be accessed here.

In the second panel, KLM's Commercial Director for South America, Seth van Straten, cited the International Air Transport Association (IATA)'s goals and draw attention to the challenge that the airline industry faces in reducing CO2 emissions (the goals can be acessed here). Suzana Kahn, Professor at the Alberto Luiz Coimbra Institute for Graduate Studies and Research in Engineering (COPPE/UFRJ), addressed the adaptation of public transport to the energy transition and spoke about the future of electrification. Executive Director of Energy at Raízen, Antonio Simões, examined the advancement of renewable energies and the use of ethanol by other countries.
