Biography Lia Valls Pereira

Senior Fellow at the Brazilian Center of International Relations (CEBRI). Adjunct Professor of the Economics Program and the Graduate Program in International Relations at the State University of Rio de Janeiro. She is also an Associate Researcher at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV) - Brazilian Institute of Economics (IBRE), where she regularly publishes on the "Setor Externo" in Conjuntura Econômica magazine.

She is a member of the Scientific Council of the Institute for Brazil-China Studies (IBRACH). Its main papers and research topics are related to multilateral economic institutions, preferential trade agreements and the political economy of Brazil's international agenda and trade policy.

In recent years, the researcher has published articles on China, such as: "Armadilha da Renda Média: Visões do Brasil e da China" (“Middle Income Trap: Views of Brazil and China”) (edited together with Fernando Veloso in an IBRE partnership and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences); “Efeito China nas exportações Brasileiras em terceiros mercados” (“The Chinese effect on Brazilian exports in third markets”) (IPEA); and "Direction of Chinese Global Investment" (organized by Anna Jaguaribe).

In 2020, she published a book, organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, called “Comércio Exterior Brasileiro no Pós Pandemia” (“Brazilian Foreign Trade in the Post Pandemic”).
