Biography Marina de Mello e Souza

Marina de Mello e Souza is an associate professor at the History Department of the Center of Philosophy, Languages and Human Science of the University of São Paulo (FFLCH - USP). Specialized in African History and of Afro-Brazilian culture, she is author of peer-reviewed articles published in academic journals and of historical knowledge diffusion and of the books: “Paraty, the city and the festivities”; “Black Kings in Slave-holding Brazil”; “History of the Coronation Party of King Congo”; “Africa and African Brazil and Beyond the Visible: Power, Catholicism and Trade in Congo and Angola (16th and 17th Centuries)” - all in Portuguese. Marina researches Congo and Angola from the 16th and 17th Centuries with a Brazilian federal government scholarship of productivity, and is activity in graduation programs advising students and promoting extracurricular activities.
