The Soft Power of Favela Culture

The webinar "A Country Called Favela: Culture and Soft Power in Brazil", an initiative of CEBRI's Culture and International Relations Program, held on the 7th of October, was featured in the Rio newspapers O Dia and Meia Hora. Panelists included Renato Meirelles, President of Instituto Locomotiva and author of the book "A Country Called Favela", Preto Zezé, President of the Unified Favela Center (CUFA), and Fabio Eon,Coordinator for Human and Social Sciences and Natural Sciences at UNESCO, with moderation and opening by Ambassador Marcos Azambuja, Senior Fellow Evangelina Seiler and CEBRI Project Manager, Marianna Albuquerque.

Preto Zezé is the first Black President of the Unified Favela Center. In the debate, participants will discuss the soft power of favela culture and its influence and impact on the image of Brazil abroad.
