CEBRI wins the 2025 Faz Diferença Award, by O Globo newspaper

The Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) has been recognized as the winner of the 23rd edition of the Faz Diferença Award, an initiative by Editora Globo in partnership with O Globo newspaper, in the World category. The award ceremony took place on Thursday evening (June 11) at Casa Firjan, in Rio de Janeiro.

Representing CEBRI, José Pio Borges, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Julia Dias Leite, CEO, received the award on behalf of the institution.

The recognition marks nearly three decades dedicated to strengthening Brazil's international engagement and fostering a plural, qualified, and independent dialogue on key global issues.

During the ceremony, José Pio Borges highlighted CEBRI's institutional trajectory and the organization's role in shaping the Brazilian perspective on international transformations:

"Over this 28-year journey, we gradually built our institution, defining working methods, bringing together experts and partners, and, little by little, forging a reputation grounded in seriousness, intellectual integrity, and a commitment to what is best for our country."

Julia Dias Leite also emphasized the collective effort behind this achievement and the importance of the network of trustees, fellows, associates, partners, and staff that strengthens CEBRI's institutional work:

"This award belongs to everyone who has help establish CEBRI as a leading voice in Brazil's international affairs dialogue."

Also attending the ceremony were Luiz Eduardo Osório, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees; Ambassador Gelson Fonseca, Founder of the institution; Flavia Theophilo, Director of HR, Operations and Finance; and Renata Bellozi, Director of Communication and Marketing.

Created in 2003, the Faz Diferença Award recognizes individuals, companies, and institutions whose initiatives generate meaningful social, economic, and cultural impact in Brazil. In this edition, 16 individuals and institutions were recognized for their contributions to the country throughout 2025, across six official categories.

ABOUT CEBRI

Founded in 1998 by a group of diplomats, business leaders, and intellectuals led by former Foreign Minister Luiz Felipe Lampreia, CEBRI was born from a pioneering ambition: to establish Brazil's first think tank dedicated to international relations.

With the mission of enriching public debate and expanding Brazil's role in the world, the institution is dedicated to fostering dialogue and contributing to the development of public policies aimed at national development.

Over the years, CEBRI has consolidated itself as a plural and democratic space for debate on foreign policy and international relations, bringing together leaders and experts from the public, private, academic, and civil society sectors.

In recent years, CEBRI has expanded its engagement in strategic agendas, promoting dialogue and multistakeholder coordination on issues central to Brazil. In this context, the institution actively contributed to major multilateral processes, including Brazil's presidencies of the G20 and BRICS, as well as COP30 in Brazil, mobilizing a broad network of national and international stakeholders to contribute ideas, proposals, and solutions to key global challenges.

The inauguration of CEBRI's new headquarters at the end of 2025, in partnership with the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), also marked a new phase of institutional growth and internationalization.

This award reflects the collective work of trustees, fellows, associates, partners, and staff who, over the years, have contributed to consolidating CEBRI as a leading institution in Brazil's international affairs debate.

We thank everyone who voted and who has been part of this journey.
