Breaking News | China in Trump's Shadow: What Can Go Wrong?

March 07 and 09, 2017

CEBRI Breaking News: China in the shadow of Trump: What can go wrong? - São Paulo CEBRI Breaking News: China in the shadow of Trump: What can go wrong? - Rio de Janeiro

The founding partner of Gavenkal Dragonomics consultancy, Arthur Kroeber, considered one of the greatest specialists on China in the world, came to Brazil to deliver two lectures followed by debates, convened by CEBRI (Brazilian Center for International Relations). One was held in Rio and the other in São Paulo, in partnership with Casa do Saber.

Kroeber brought an accurate view of China's prospects for the future and, in particular, of the risks and trends surrounding the relationship between the Asian country and the United States. The consultant first visited the Asian country in 1985 and worked as a journalist covering Asian countries for prestigious international editions, before founding the consulting firm.

During the lecture followed by the CEBRI Breaking News debate: “China in Trump's Shadow: What Can Go Wrong?”, Kroeber demonstrated that China has been well managed, with clear priorities and, above all, direction. In addition, he shared that he felt more optimistic about the risk of a trade war by President Donald Trump against China.

In São Paulo, the debate was mediated by CEBRI Trustee Emeritus and Co-Founder, Roberto Teixeira da Costa. In Rio de Janeiro, the former president of Banco Central and CEBRI Trustee, Arminio Fraga, mediated the event. We thank Arthur Kroeber, CEBRI moderators and trustees and Casa do Saber, whose partnership gave rise to this event and with whom we have had the honor of working more closely throughout 2017.
